  Removing the front panel assembly

To remove the front panel assembly:

  1. Turn off the HMC and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords.
  2. Unlock and remove the side cover. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Cover.)
  3. Remove the lower bezel. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Lower Bezel.)
  4. Remove the upper bezel. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Upper Bezel.)
  5. Slide the drives in bay 1 and bay 2 forward slightly .(Refer to Removing and Replacing a CD or DVD Drive.) It is not necessary to remove these drives.
  6. If the HMC has hot-swap power supplies, remove the power supplies and the power-supply cage. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Hot-swap Power Supply Cage.)
  7. Disconnect the front-panel assembly cable from the system board, noting the routing of the cable. (Refer to Model 7042-C06 HMC Features - System-board Internal Connectors for the location of the front-panel connector.)
  8. Press up on the release tab of the front-panel assembly and pull the assembly toward the rear of the HMC. Then, remove the front-panel assembly from the chassis.
  9. If you are instructed to return the front-panel assembly, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials supplied to you for shipping.
