  Removing the simple-swap backplate

To remove the simple-swap backplate:

  1. Turn off the HMC and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords.
  2. Unlock and remove the side cover. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Cover.)
  3. Remove the lower bezel. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Lower Bezel.)
  4. Remove the simple-swap hard disk drives. (Refer to Removing and Replacing a Simple-swap Hard Disk Drive.)
  5. Remove the front fan assembly from the hard disk drive cage. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Front System Fan Assembly.)
  6. Disconnect the power cables from the simple-swap backplate.
  7. Disconnect the signal cables from the system board.
  8. Press and hold the drive cage release tab. Then, rotate the drive cage out of the chassis until the retaining tab on top of the cage locks into place.
  9. Press up on the retaining latch at the top of the drive cage. Then, tilt the top of the simple-swap backplate away from the drive cage until it is clear of the locating pins.
  10. Lift the simple-swap backplate out of the lower lip on the drive cage.
  11. If you are instructed to return the simple-swap backplate, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials supplied to you for shipping.
