Console Window, i5/OS
You can communicate
with the operating system on your managed system or partition by
opening a terminal window from the HMC. If you have set up your
i5/OS managed system or partition to use the 5250 emulator
on the HMC as an operating console, you can open a terminal window
to the i5/OS operating system in the following way:
- In the Navigation Pane, select Server Management.
- Select the desired system or partition.
- In the Work Pane, under Console Window select Open Terminal Window.
For an i5/OS
managed system or partition, a 5250 terminal emulation window appears
as shown at left.
You can connect remotely to a 5250 console session
using a PCOMM 5250 emulator session. Point the PCOMM session to
the HMC at port 2300 (port 2301 if you are using SSL).. The same
remote console session as shown at left will appear.
Choose a language
and login with your HMC userid and password as shown below left.
