About
This Section
You can perform remote operations using the Grapihcal
User Interface (GUI) used by a local HMC operator or the command
line interface (CLI) on the HMC. You can perform operations remotely
in the following ways:
- Use a remote HMC
- Use a Web browser to connect to a local HMC
- Use an HMC
remote command line.
To perform remote
operations using a Web browser, all remote Web browser access to
the HMC must use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. SSL provides
server authentication, data encryption, and data integrity. A certificate
is required to provide the keys for this encryption.
If
you plan to use a remote HMC or use a Web browser to connect to
an HMC, it is important that you understand the properties of a
certificate and how to manage these certificates.
This section
covers what security considerations you need to understand before
performing remote operations and how to create, modify, view, and
delete certificates. The topics include:
11.1
Security Considerations
11.2

11.3
