The HMC may
connect to the systems it manages in different ways.
- An HMC
can connect via a private service network using a DHCP server
on the HMC to connect to the managed systems.
- An
HMC can use an existing open network to connect to the managed
systems
To set up the
initial connection to your POWER6 system, the HMC includes a
Guided Setup Wizard to guide you through the configuration steps.
Using the Guided Setup Wizard you will setup network connections,
create initial users, set the date and time for your area, and set
up connections from your managed systems to your service provider. Via these connections,
you and your service provider can be automatically notified if system
problems occur.
