4.15 Removing and Replacing the Operator Information Panel Assembly

  Removing the operator information panel assembly

To remove the operator information panel assembly:

  1. Turn off the HMC and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords.
  2. Open the fan door.
  3. Remove the CD-RW/DVD drive. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the CD-RW/DVD Drive.)
  4. Remove fan 3. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Fan Assembly.)

Start the video ...

  1. Slide the blue CD/RW cable retainer away from the interposer card.
  2. Remove the mounting screw from the interposer card and disconnect the CD-RW cable. Then, remove the interposer card.
  3. Remove the air baffle.
  4. Disconnect the USB cable, video cable, lightpath cable, and CD-RW cable from the system board.

    Note: These cables fit into a small space so it may be a bit awkward disconnecting and redirecting the cables.

  5. Feed the USB cable, video cable, and lightpath cable through the opening in the chassis. Slide the lightpath cable out of the tabs.
  6. On the front of the operator information panel, slide the blue release button to the left and gently pull the assembly out of the HMC as far as it will go.
  7. Press the release buttons on the top of the HMC and pull and remove the operator information panel assembly out of the HMC followed by the attached lightpath ribbon cable.
  8. If you are instructed to return the operator information panel assembly, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging material supplied to you for shipping.
