In addition to the
three major screen areas, the HMC Web user interface has these elements:
- Tasks
Pad
- The Tasks
Pad view contains available tasks arranged hierarchically and
organized into task categories. The tasks displayed are context
sensitive; they are displayed based on the type of the currently
selected object(s). The Tasks Pad presents a launch point to the
user for accessing targeted tasks. Alternatively, the user may
launch tasks using available context menus or drop-down menus
in the table within the Work Pane. You can also access them by
clicking on the double arrow to the right of the selected item
(under Name) in the table.
- Banner
- The Banner
identifies the product, in this case, 'Hardware Management Console'.
This banner may be customized or replaced for OEM partners.

- Task
Bar
- The Task
Bar is directly below the Banner, and contains the logged in user
ID, Help, and Logout tasks. In addition, it visually represents
all running tasks. The Task Bar may be used as a navigation aid
to move between tasks (Web pages) that were launched and have
not yet been closed.
