Troubleshooting Server Problems

If there is a hardware or firmware problem on a system or partition managed by the HMC, the managed system reports the error to the HMC as a serviceable event.

Managing Serviceable Events

The HMC may manage multiple managed systems and logical partitions. Resources may be shared across partitions, causing serviceable events to be reported multiple times.

To help you manage errors logged against a system, you can view, repair, or manage serviceable events filtered by multiple criteria through the Manage Serviceable Events task.

  1. In the Navigation Pane , select Service Management.
  2. In the Work Pane, select Manage Serviceable Events.

The Manage Serviceable Events screen allows you to specify selection criteria for the events you wish to view or manage. They may be filtered by:

  1. Event criteria - event status or problem number.
  2. Error criteria - System or Enclosure MTMS, System Reference code, date range.
  3. FRU criteria - Part Number or Location Code.
