Create a Serviceable Event

Ordinarily, problem analysis on the managed system automatically detects error conditions, and reports to you any problem that requires service to repair it.

However, if you notice a problem occurred or you suspect a problem is affecting the managed system, but problem analysis has not reported it to you, use this window to report the problem to your service provider.

Reporting a problem sends to the service provider the information you provide in the Problem Description field, and machine information that identifies the HMC.

To create a serviceable event:

  1. In the navigation pane, select Service Management.
  2. In the work pane, select Create Serviceable Event.
  3. Use the window's controls to identify and describe the problem, then click Request Service to report it.

You can also test whether problems can be reported from this console by indicating in the window that this is a test problem and selecting Test automatic problem reporting.
