Powering
On a Managed System
To power on
a managed system from the HMC:
- In the Navigation
Pane, select Systems Management to list the system
resources.
- Select Servers.
- Select the
desired managed system.
- In the Tasks
Pad, select Operations to list the available
tasks.
- Select Power
On. A window displays. (See below left.)
The managed systems can be powered on into one of four modes:
- Partition
Standby - Powers on the system to standby mode. Partition
standby mode allows you to create and activate logical partitions
individually.
- System
Profile - Powers on the system according to a predefined
set of system profiles. You select the system profile from
the displayed list.
- Partition
AutoStart - Powers on the system to partition standby
mode and then activates all partitions that are marked autostart
or were active when the system was shut down.
- Hardware Discovery - The hardware discovery process captures information about about all I/O devices and records the hardware inventory in a cache on the managed system. After the discovery process is complete, the system is left in an operating state with all partitions in the powered off state. The collected information is then available for use when displaying data for I/O devices or when creating a system plan based on the managed system.
- Select a
power on option and click OK.
