Applying
Corrective Service for the HMC
Before installing
corrective service on the HMC you should back
up HMC data to assure your current HMC is recoverable in the
event of a problem. You should also determine what current level
of code exists on your HMC.
Fix Central offers online media ordering, installation instructions and related technical information on Licensed Internal Code updates of the HMC. Before updating LIC, verify the current LIC levels on your HMC and check on the web site to determine if an update is needed or recommended.
- In the navigation
pane, select Updates.
- In the work
pane, HMC LIC levels are displayed under HMC Code Level.
Once you know what level of HMC software you have, you can
work with your service representative or use the Internet to see
whether fixes are available for your software release.
Fixes may be
obtained by ordering them on a CD-ROM or by downloading them either
to the HMC itself or to a remote system that the HMC is able to
connect to via FTP or mountable filesystem.
To apply corrective
fixes:
- In the navigation
pane, select Updates.
- Select the Updates button under HMC Code Level.
- Follow the
direction on the dialog box displayed to either apply corrective
service from removable media or to download and apply corrective service
from a remote system.
