IBM SmartCloud Analytics - Log Analysis, Version 1.2.0.3

Assigning roles

After you create users or groups, you must assign the appropriate roles to ensure that these users have access to the appropriate data in IBM SmartCloud® Analytics - Log Analysis.

You must assign roles after you create users and groups in the basic registry. It is recommended that you assign roles to groups and add and remove users from the groups as required.

If you want use a basic user registry, you can create users or groups for that registry. After you create these users and groups, you must assign roles to the groups or users.

If you use Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) authentication, you must use your LDAP application to create users and assign them to the appropriate group. You can use the default groups for LDAP, UnityAdmins and UnityUsers or you can create your own LDAP group. If you do not use the default group names, you must assign the appropriate roles so that the LDAP users can access IBM SmartCloud Analytics - Log Analysis.

Table 1 outlines the default users and the groups and roles to which the users are associated.
