Version 10.1 features
extend the workload management capabilities provided in previous releases.
DB2 WLM dispatcher manages service class CPU resource allocations
The DB2® workload
manager (WLM) dispatcher is a built-in DB2 technology
by which you can specifically allocate CPU resources to work that
is being executed on a database server. CPU resource entitlements
can be controlled by using CPU shares and CPU limit attributes on DB2 WLM user and maintenance service
class objects.
DB2 WLM can prioritize activities based on the accessed data
Using DB2 WLM, you
can now prioritize an activity based on the data that the activity
accesses, either before the activity executes (predictively) or while
the activity is executing (reactively).
DB2 workload manager is now available in the DB2 pureScale environment
With DB2 Version 10.1,
you are now able to use DB2 workload
manager (DB2 WLM) to manage
your workloads when the IBM® DB2 pureScale® Feature is
enabled. A good workload management configuration aids in maximizing
system efficiency and throughput, while helping you to achieve your
business performance objectives.
