Error description
Abstract: Attempts to run the Profile Management Tool (PMT) from a WebSphere Application Server 64-bit server install in Rational Application Developer v8.x may result in it not being launched. Problem: You install Rational Application Developer (RAD) 8.5.1 on a Windows 7 64-bit platform as an administrator and when you launch it as a non-admin user with the Windows 7 user access controls enabled then you notice that you are not able to run the Profile Management Tool PMT) for a 64-bit install of WebSphere Application Server. 64-bit PMT was introduced as of WebSphere Application Server v7.0.0.23 via APAR PM58927: ADD 64 BIT Profile Management Tool(PMT) SUPPORT http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1PM58927 Prior to that the products 'Run Profile Management Tool' action would have been disabled with a 64-bit WebSphere Application Server v7 install. Steps to reproduce: 1) Launch the product as non-admin user 2) Select 'Window ? Preferences' 3) Navigate to 'Server ? WebSphere Application Server' 4) Ensure your existing WebSphere v7.0 runtime is selected, then click on 'Run Profile Management Tool' button Expected results: PMT GUI should launch to allow creation of new profiles. Actual results: PMT GUI does not appear. Local fix: Run ?WAS_HOME?\bin\ProfileManagement\pmt.bat from a command prompt started using 'Run As Administrator' on Windows 7.
