Error description
IBM Tivoli Monitoring Agents that are installed on Windows Operating Systems using the Language/Region setting of Western Frisian/Netherland results in the Agents not correctly handling text strings. One will see the following trace messages appearing in the Agent's log file which is a telltale of the problem: (57DA975E.00D4-3AB0:nls2.c,4328,"NLS2_initLocaleObject") Basename not found in table. Not valid Locale name. When additional tracing (ERROR(UNIT:NLS2 ALL) is set in the Agent's configuration file the trace log will show the following trace messages: 7DA975E.05DB-41CC:nls2.c,4308,"NLS2_initLocaleObject") ICU Locale basename is fy_NL. (57DA975E.05DC-41CC:nls2.c,4310,"NLS2_initLocaleObject") Locate locale basename in table. (57DA975E.05DD-41CC:nls2.c,4328,"NLS2_initLocaleObject") Basename not found in table. Not valid RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS: Install a Windows System using the Language Pack and specify Language and Region as Western Frisian and Netherland respectively. Install any IBM Tivoli Monitoring Agent Start the Agent and review the trace messages to verify that the fy_NL Locale setting is not honored by the Agent.
Local fix
None. Setting the Language/Region settings through Windows does not resolve the issue.
Problem summary
The Globalization functions that support the ITM product do not include the Faisian language of the Netherlands in its table. Since this language and region do not appear in the table, the Globalization functions default to the IBM EBCDIC Codepage (IBM-037). With the incorrect codepage value, the Windows OS Agent does not correctly handle input and output data that is the native codepage from the Windows Operating System.
Problem conclusion
Add the fy_NL language/region to the Globalization functions table.
Temporary fix
The fix is available upon receipt of a Provisional Fix request.
