Abstract
This guide describes how to use online (disk) devices to protect, back up, restore, and copy data between IBM® System Storage™ N series storage systems that run the Data ONTAP® 8.1 7-Mode release family software. Data protection means backing up data and being able to recover it. You protect the data by making copies of it so that it is available for restoration even if the original is no longer available. Refer to the Release Notes for a specific release in the Data ONTAP 8.1 7-Mode release family for more information about supported storage systems.
