Unable to Upgrade IBM Rational ClearQuest from version 7.1.x to version 8.0.0.1 on Microsoft Windows platforms.

Problem

When upgrading IBM Rational ClearQuest version 7.1.x to version 8.0.0.1 with the IBM Installation Manager, the following error message is displayed. Then, the upgrade fails. "Error during "install" phase: Unable to find custom install operation com.ibm.rational.team.install.common.win32.registry.PreserveAction com.ibm.rational.team.install.common.win32.registry.PreserveAction"

Environment

All supported Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, where IBM Rational ClearQuest is being upgraded from a 7.1.x.x version to 8.0.0.1 version.

Resolving The Problem

To avoid this issue, upgrade IBM Rational ClearQuest to version 7.1.2.6 or version 7.1.1.9, before upgrading to 8.0.0.1, or upgrade IBM Rational ClearQuest to version 8.0.0.2 instead of version 8.0.0.1.
