Enabling continuous access to read on standby databases using Virtual IP addresses

White Papers

Abstract

Use the paper in this document to configure the DB2® High Availability and Disaster Recover (HADR) read on standby (ROS) feature in conjunction with Virtual IP (VIP) addresses to ensure continued, automatic connectivity for read-only clients.

Content

This paper uses an HADR system configuration with two machines where the standby node is configured as a read-only node. Detailed configuration steps are provided for configuring the ROS HADR database, the ROS VlP for the standby database, and for enabling the clients to connect to the ROS VIP.
