B. Installation
You can use the Install program on the SmartSuite CD-ROM to upgrade from a previous release or to install SmartSuite for the first time.

NOTE: Before you install SmartSuite, close all Windows programs and shut down all anti-virus protection programs.

> If you are upgrading from a previous SmartSuite release
You can install SmartSuite to the same location as the previous release or to a new location. The SmartSuite Release 9.8 Install program detects whether a previous SmartSuite release is installed and automatically uninstalls it.

If you are upgrading from Release 9.7, you can follow the Standard Install Instructions below to uninstall Release 9.7 and install Release 9.8.

If you are upgrading from Release 9.6, you must have access to the Release 9.6 .MSI file to complete the uninstall of Release 9.6. The Release 9.8 Install program searches for this file in the following locations:

-- The network drive and path from where SmartSuite Release 9.6 was installed
-- The \extra\msi96 directory on the SmartSuite CD-ROM
-- The \extra\msi96 directory on the network drive where the network administrator performed the Release 9.8 Administrative Install

If the Install program cannot locate the Release 9.6 .MSI file, the following message displays:
The feature you are trying to use is on a <source> that is not available. Insert the 'Lotus SmartSuite - <language>' disk and click OK.
where <source> is the location SmartSuite Release 9.6 was installed from and where <language> is the language version of SmartSuite.

You must provide the Release 9.6 version of the .MSI file before you can continue the Release 9.8 installation. If you are installing from a network, contact your network administrator for the location of this file on the network. When you locate the correct .MSI file, follow these steps to proceed with the Release 9.8 installation:

1. If necessary, restart the Release 9.8 Install program.

2. When the error message appears, click Browse in the message box.

3. Navigate to the Release 9.6 .MSI file.

4. Click OK and proceed with the installation.

If you are upgrading from Release 9.5 (or earlier), IBM recommends that you uninstall the previous SmartSuite release prior to installing Release 9.8.

> If you are upgrading from 1-2-3 standalone release 9.5 (or earlier)
If you have standalone 1-2-3 Release 9.5 (or earlier) installed on your computer, IBM recommends that you uninstall it prior to installing SmartSuite Release 9.8.

1. From the Windows TaskBar, choose Start --> Settings --> Control Panel.

2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

3. Select Lotus 1-2-3.

4. Uninstall 1-2-3 (and Approach if you installed it for interoperability).

5. Exit the Control Panel.

6. Follow the Standard Install Instructions for SmartSuite.

> If you are a network administrator
For information about installing to a network file server, refer to the READNET.RTF file located in the \Lotus folder on the SmartSuite CD-ROM.

> Standard install instructions
If you insert the SmartSuite CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, the Install program starts automatically.

You can also follow these instructions to install SmartSuite:

1. Insert the SmartSuite CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

2. From the Windows TaskBar, choose Start --> Run.

3. Type x:\autorun\startautorun in the Run dialog box, where x: is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.

4. (Optional) After Install is complete, restart Windows.

NOTE: SmartSuite includes the Microsoft Software Installer (MSI) Version 2.0. If Version 2.0 is not present on your system, SmartSuite installs it and forces a reboot on your machine before completing the SmartSuite installation.

C. Uninstall
The Uninstall program removes all SmartSuite files which were copied to your system when the SmartSuite product was installed. It also removes all program folders (except for the main Lotus folder), shortcut icons, icons, and Windows Registry entries.

The Uninstall program does not delete files in your work or personal folders, or other files that were changed after they were installed. It does not delete a folder until all folders and files are removed from that folder. In addition, the Uninstall program does not remove files copied to a file server during an Administrative Install.

> Uninstalling a standard or node installation
The Uninstall program can be accessed from the Start menu.

1. From the Windows TaskBar, choose Start --> Settings --> Control Panel.

2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

3. Select Lotus SmartSuite - <language>, where <language> is the language version of SmartSuite.

4. Click Add/Remove.

5. Select Lotus SmartSuite and click OK.

D. Information About SmartSuite Release 9.8

> Improved compatibility with Microsoft Office and support for Microsoft WordArt in 1-2-3, Word Pro, and Freelance Graphics
1-2-3, Word Pro, and Freelance Graphics Release 9.8 import Microsoft WordArt objects as Windows metafiles (WMF). Imported attributes include text, font, font size, color, gradient, bold, italics, underline, direction of text, and texture.

NOTE: WordArt autoshape objects are not imported.

Improved Microsoft Office file import and export filters in 1-2-3, Word Pro, and Freelance Graphics
Improved Microsoft Office file import and export filters are available in 1-2-3, Word Pro, and Freelance Graphics. The File - Open and File - Save functions maintain as much data and functionality as possible. Note that there is not a 1:1 correspondence for all features in Microsoft Office and Lotus SmartSuite, so 100% functionality cannot be achieved.

1-2-3: Opens and saves Microsoft Excel 2000 and Excel XP files. 1-2-3 Release 9.8 maintains pictures in Excel files during import and export.

NOTE: This new functionality is not documented in Online Help.

-- From the File menu, choose Open, and select Microsoft Excel (XLS;XLT;XLW) for Files of type.
-- From the File menu, choose Save As, and select Microsoft Excel 97-2000 Workbook (XLS) for Save as type.

Word Pro: Opens and saves Microsoft Word 2000 and Word XP files.

-- From the File menu, choose Open, and select MS Word 2000 (*.doc) for Files of type.
-- From the File menu, choose Save As, and select MS Word 2000 (*.doc) for Save as type.

Word Pro opens Microsoft Excel 2000 and Excel XP files.

-- From the File menu, choose Open, and select MS Excel 97 (*.xls) for Files of type.

>1-2-3 interoperates with document management systems (ODMA)
Release 9.8 includes two new ODMA methods for 1-2-3: OpenDocumentFromODMA and SaveAsToODMA.

NOTE: This new functionality is not documented in Online Help.

OpenDocumentFromODMA: Opens a 1-2-3 file from the Document Management Service providing ODMA interface.

Syntax: Set document = application.OpenDocumentFromODMA()

Parameters: None

Return Values: Document. A new instance of the Document class for the file selected from the DMS's File Open Dialog. The following file types are supported:

-- 1-2-3 9 workbook(.123)
-- 1-2-3 97 workbook(.123)
-- 1-2-3 for Windows Release 1, 3 and 4 (.wk1, .wk3, .wk4)
-- 1-2-3 SmartMaster template (.12m, .wt4)

For Domino.Doc, an association should be defined for all the above files.

SaveAsToODMA: Creates a new draft of the document in the DMS.

Syntax: document.SaveAsToODMA()

Parameters: None.

ReturnValue: None

Usage: When you save a document with the SaveAsToODMA method, a new draft of the document is created on the DMS and is opened for editing. The previous document in which the function was called, is closed. If you use SaveAsToODMA and the FileSystem button is selected, 1-2-3 displays an error message.

Adding 1-2-3 as an ODMA application in Domino.Doc: If 1-2-3 is not already defined in the Domino.Doc Library, you must add it as an ODMA application by creating a Launch Association in Domino.Doc. For instructions on creating a Launch Association, refer to the Domino.Doc Administrator's Guide.

ODMA Format: 1-2-3 (123)
File Extension: 123
Application ID: Lotus123.Workbook
Description:

Release 9.8 supports all these file types for Domino.Doc.

File Type File String (extension)

> 1-2-3 uses the Euro as default currency format for European countries
1-2-3 Release 9.8 uses the Euro as the default currency format, if the Euro is specified as the currency symbol in the operating system (Regional Settings).

To set the Euro as the default currency symbol:

1. In the Control Panel, launch Regional Settings.

2. Specify the appropriate country/language setting.

3. Specify the Euro as the currency symbol.

NOTE: You must select one of the currencies in the Currency Symbol list box.

4. Click OK to exit the Control Panel. 1-2-3 uses the Euro as the default currency format when you open a SmartMaster or specify Currency as the numeric format in Range properties.

> Specify whether Word Pro should run attached LotusScript
You can specify whether Word Pro Release 9.8 should alert you when you open Word Pro or SmartMaster documents that contain attached LotusScripts. If you set the "Warn before running scripts" option, Word Pro displays a Security Warning message, if the document contains a script. You can then specify whether the script (which might contain a virus) should run or be disabled.

To enable the "Warn before running scripts" option:

1. From the File menu, choose User Setup --> Word Pro Preferences.

2. On the Enable panel, under Performance, select "Document open scripts."

3. On the General panel, select the option," Warn before running scripts." This option is disabled by default.

4. Click OK.

If you set the "Warn before running scripts" option, Word Pro checks all .LWP and .MWP documents to determine if they contain LotusScripts. Word Pro does not check:

-- Other file formats
-- Scripts/macros in languages other than LotusScript
-- AmiPro macros imported with associated .SAM files
-- Application startup scripts

NOTE: If you use the Script Editor to modify, save, or run the scripts, the scripts become enabled.

> Changes in SmartCenter folders
The SmartCenter Release 9.8 Internet drawer contains a new IBM folder that links to the IBM Web site (www.ibm.com).

SmartCenter Release 9.8 no longer contains the following folders: News, Stocks Quotes, Weather, Web Reference, Travel, Maps, and SmartSuite Tips. If you want to create similar folders and customize them, right-click the appropriate drawer handle and then click New Folder.

NOTE: If you are upgrading from a prior release and you previously customized SmartCenter drawers and folders, those customizations may be lost when you install Release 9.8.

> Maintaining multiple folder paths in Word Pro and Freelance Graphics
For Word Pro SmartMaster templates and documents, you can specify multiple folder paths on the Locations panel, in File, User Setup, Word Pro Preferences. During a standalone or node installation, the user-defined multiple folder paths specified in the previous release are preserved on the local machine.

For Freelance Graphics SmartMaster templates, you can specify multiple folder paths in File, User Setup, Freelance Preferences, File Locations. During a standalone installation, the user-defined multiple folder paths specified in the previous release are preserved on the local machine. For node installations, the user-defined multiple folder paths specified in the previous release are not preserved on the local machine. You can manually add the additional paths after the node install is complete.

Installing to the same location as the previous release
If you are upgrading to Release 9.8 and specified multiple folder paths for Word Pro and/or Freelance Graphics in a previous release, IBM recommends that you install Release 9.8 to the SAME drive and directory as the previous release. The Release 9.8 Install program preserves all user-defined paths.

The Release 9.8 Install program backs up the SmartMaster templates located in the Lotus-defined default folder path (for example, x:\lotus\smasters\wordpro). After you install Release 9.8, the SmartMaster templates from the previous release are located in the backup folder under the Lotus-defined default folder path. The files in user-defined folder paths are not backed up.

Example:
-- multiple folder path: c:\lotus\smasters\wordpro;e:\shared\smasters\wordpro
-- default folder path: c:\lotus\smasters\wordpro
-- backup folder path: c:\lotus\smasters\wordpro\backup

The SmartSuite Install program copies the SmartMaster templates from the default folder path in the previous release to the backup folder, and installs the Release 9.8 SmartMaster templates to the default folder path. To restore the SmartMaster templates from the previous release, copy the SmartMaster template files (*.MWP) from the backup folder to one of the multiple folder paths specified in User Setup.

NOTE: If the network administrator used an automated Install with an .RSP file and disabled the backup option, the SmartMaster templates from the previous release are available in the Lotus-defined default folder path specified in User Setup. For more information about Automated Install, refer to the READNET.RTF file, located in the \Lotus directory on the SmartSuite CD-ROM.

Installing to a different location from the previous release
If you install Release 9.8 to a DIFFERENT drive and/or directory, the Lotus-defined default folder paths for the SmartMaster templates and Word Pro documents specify the new drive and/or directory.

The SmartMaster templates are located in the backup folder on the drive/directory where the previous release was installed, but the default folder path in User Setup points to the new drive/directory where you installed Release 9.8. To restore the SmartMaster templates from the previous release, copy the SmartMaster template files (*.MWP) from the backup folder where the previous release was installed, to one of the multiple folder paths specified in User Setup for Release 9.8.

The Word Pro document files are located in the drive/directory where the previous release was installed, but the default folder path in User Setup points to the new drive/directory. To restore the documents from the previous release, copy them from the folder where the previous release was installed, to one of the multiple folder paths, specified in User Setup, where you installed Release 9.8.

>ViaVoice runtime engine removed from SmartSuite CD-ROM
SmartSuite Release 9.8 no longer provides the ViaVoice runtime engine in the \extra directory on CD-ROM. If you use ViaVoice in 1-2-3 and Word Pro, IBM recommends that you install the latest standalone version of ViaVoice available for your operating system.

NOTE: Any documentation stating that ViaVoice ships in the \extra directory is no longer accurate.

> Adobe Acrobat Reader removed from SmartSuite
Documentation in some SmartSuite books, Online Help topics, and DocOnline books (.PDF files) states that Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.02 ships with SmartSuite. Lotus SmartSuite Release 9.8 no longer includes or installs the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The SmartSuite Install program does not remove a previously installed Reader. If you are upgrading from a previous release, the Reader is still available on your hard disk.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view the .PDF books located in the Lotus DocOnline folder. If you are installing SmartSuite for the first time and do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed, you can obtain the latest version of the Reader from the Adobe Web site.

NOTE: Adobe Access 3.2 (for accessibility integration in Acrobat Reader) was removed from the \extra directory on the SmartSuite Release 9.8 CD-ROM. You can download an accessible version of the Reader from the Adobe Web site.

>Organizer converts competitive file types
The Organizer conversion utility is in the \extra\organize\convert directory on the SmartSuite Release 9.8 CD-ROM. Once you install the utility, you can convert the following types of competitive files to Lotus Organizer: Outlook 97/98, Act! 3.x, Day-Timer Organizer, and Sidekick 97/98.

1. Navigate to the \extra\organize\convert directory on the SmartSuite CD-ROM.

2. Double-click SETUP.EXE and follow the instructions.

3. Launch Organizer and, from the File menu, choose Convert.

>ScreenCam Player
In addition to the ScreenCam Recorder, the ScreenCam Player is now available in the extra\scrncam\player directory on the SmartSuite Release 9.8 CD-ROM. For more information, refer to SCPLAYER.TXT in the same directory.

>Extra 1-2-3 maps removed from SmartSuite CD-ROM
The \extra\123\maps directory was removed from the SmartSuite Release 9.8 CD-ROM. All current map files are included in 1-2-3 Release 9.8.

> New registration tool
SmartSuite Release 9.8 contains a new web-based product registration program which prompts you to register at the end of the SmartSuite installation. Please re-register SmartSuite using the new registration tool.

NOTE: The postage-paid registration card mentioned in the documentation is no longer included in the SmartSuite package.

E. Troubleshooting

NOTE: The Windows Registry is central to the operation of Windows and any changes must be performed with care. As with any configuration change, it is highly recommended that customers have complete backups of computer systems and data files before modifying the Windows Registry.

>Error Message exiting 1-2-3 from Domino.Doc (via ODMA)
An error message, "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down," may display when exiting 1-2-3 under the following conditions:

-- 1-2-3 is launched from a Domino.Doc ODMA client machine.
-- the operating system is Windows 95 or 98.

The Domino.Doc Registry key to make 1-2-3 compliant with Domino.Doc is incorrect or missing. To resolve the problem, you can manually create the Registry key for 1-2-3.

1. In a command prompt window, type "regedit" (without quotes), and press ENTER.

2. Navigate to the following Registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\lotus\Domino.Doc Desktop Enabler/ODMADeInitApps."

3. Add the Registry key value: "Lotus123.Workbo".

4. Save the Registry key value and close Regedit.

NOTE: The Windows Registry is central to the operation of Windows and any changes must be performed with care. As with any configuration change, it is highly recommended that customers have complete backups of computer systems and data files before modifying the Windows Registry.

>Number style bullets are not underlined in Word Pro
If you apply underline, double underline, or word underline to the first character in a number or bullet list, the number or bullet is not underlined. If you want the number or bullet to retain the attribute, you can set a Registry key.

1. In a command prompt window, type "regedit" (without quotes), and press ENTER.

2. Navigate to the following Registry key: HKCU\Software\Lotus\WordPro\99.0\lwpuser.ini\WordProUser\UnderlineNumList

3. Change the Registry key value to:

-- 0 to not retain underline attribute when first character in the text after bullet is underlined.
-- 1 to retain the underline attribute when first character in the text after bullet is underlined.

NOTE: The default value is 0.

4. Save the Registry key value and close Regedit.

If you change the value of the Registry key to 1 and then launch Word Pro, the numbered bullets are underlined if the first character after the bullet is underlined.

>Multiple folder paths are missing after installation in Word Pro and Freelance Graphics
If you specified multiple folder paths in a previous release and then upgrade to Release 9.8, some Word Pro SmartMaster template files and/or documents and/or Freelance Graphics SmartMaster templates from the previous release may be missing from the Lotus-defined default folder paths.

If you installed Release 9.8 to the SAME directory as the previous release:

-- The Word Pro and Freelance Graphics SmartMaster template files are located in a backup folder. You can manually copy these files to the Lotus-defined default folder path (for example, x:\lotus\smasters\wordpro), or to one of the user-defined multiple folder paths specified in User Setup.

-- The Word Pro document files are located in the same folder path(s) as the previous release.

NOTE: IBM recommends that you install Release 9.8 to the SAME drive and directory as the prior release.

If you installed Release 9.8 to a DIFFERENT directory than the previous release:

-- The Word Pro and Freelance Graphics SmartMaster template files are located in a backup folder on the previous drive/directory. You can manually copy these files to the appropriate folder path on the NEW drive/directory.

-- The Word Pro document files are located in the same folders on the previous drive/directory. You can manually copy these files to the appropriate folder path on the NEW drive/directory.

For more information, refer to "Maintaining Multiple Folder Paths in Word Pro and Freelance Graphics" above.

>NotesSQL Version 3.01 is not installed during SmartSuite installation
The installation of NotesSQL Version 3.01 is not successful during SmartSuite standalone and node install if:

-- you are upgrading from Release 9.6 to Release 9.8, and
-- you have NotesSQL Version 2.06 installed on your system, and
-- you are using Windows 95 or Windows 98.

NotesSQL Version 2.06 will also be disabled and you cannot perform any NotesSQL database functions. To manually remove NotesSQL Version 2.06 and install the NotesSQL Version 3.01:

1. After the SmartSuite installation completes, go to the Control Panel and use Add/Remove Programs to manually uninstall NotesSQL Version 2.06.

2. Insert the SmartSuite CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.

3. Navigate to the \Lotus directory on the CD-ROM drive.

4. Double-click NotesSQL301.EXE to install the driver.

NOTE: During installation, a warning message, "ReadOnly File Detected," may display. You can click "Do not display this error message again" to disable the message. IBM recommends that you click Yes to continue the installation (NotesSQL Version 3.01 will be installed and Version 2.06 will be uninstalled). Clicking No may produce unexpected results.

>Error "Approach 9.x has a known compatibility issue..." displays during installation
If you are installing SmartSuite Release 9.8 on Windows XP using SETUP.EXE or AUTORUN.EXE, the following error message may display:

Approach 9.x has a known compatibility issue with this version of Windows and might not run as expected. Printing out from a crosstable may not work as expected. For more information, contact Lotus.

To continue, click Continue. For more information, click Details.

This is an erroneous error message generated by Microsoft Windows XP. Approach Release 9.8 is compatible with Windows XP and printing from a crosstable works correctly. You can ignore the error message and click Continue to complete the SmartSuite installation.

>German umlaut sorts incorrectly in 1-2-3
1-2-3 does not sort text containing the German umlaut according to official German spell check rules. You can change the 1-2-3 sort order to conform to those rules by setting a Registry key.

1. At a command prompt, type "regedit" (without quotes) and press ENTER.

2. Navigate to the following Registry key:
\Hkey_Current_User\Software\Lotus\123\99.0\User Preferences\RaptorSortCompatibility.
