DataStage Job intermittently aborts with error "Message: Error setting up internal communications (fifo//./pipe/ETL_DS_SC197-ABC_generator)"
Symptom
Job intermittently aborts
Cause
Possible causes:
- Lack of resource
- Virus scan running for InformationServer, Project, $TMPDIR and scratch directories
Resolving The Problem
The following actions were taken to resolve the issue:
- Install IS 8.1 Fix Pack 1, which includes bundle_resourcemanagement_server_windows_81
- Configured virus scans to exclude the following Information Server directories
- $TMPDIR, Temporary directories, e.g. /tmp on Unix/Linux and %TEMP% on Windows
- Scratch directories
