APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • During scaling testing it was found that there were issues with
the vertical and horizontal scaling.
- Using elastic load balancing the virtual application scaled
out when load was increased, but did not scale in when it was
removed.
- When both vertical and horizontal scaling policies defined
only the horizontal scaling occurs.
- Horizontal scaling did not work if vertical scaling occurred
first.

Some issues are associated to an error in the logs:
Exception = java.lang.NullPointerException
Source = com.ibm.maestro.autoscaling.ScaleObjectASTask

  • There were programmatical and logic errors in the conditions
being checked that were triggering the vertical and horizontal
scaling operations in the virtual machines.
