Calendar handling of user renames improved by new AdminP command
The 8.5.1 Administrator Help database that was included with release 8.5.3 does not include this information, so this technote is the repository for this information for 8.5.3.
Resolving the problem
Until 8.5.3, the AdminP commands for managing a user rename depended upon the ACL settings "Modify All Names Fields," which was not always set consistently by users. This dependency led to a variety of failed updates to user names in calendaring and scheduling documents.
In 8.5.3, there is a new AdminP command in the admin4.nsf database: Rename Person in Calendar Entries and Profiles in Mail File Extended.
The command runs automatically and manages the correct processing of a user rename in all ACLs, calendar profiles, and calendar and scheduling documents, in every database that is marked as including a calendar. Note: Rename person in calendar entries and profiles in mail file extended runs as a delayed request after the completion of the request Rename in Person Documents.
As a result of the new command, the "Modify All Names Fields" ACL setting is no longer necessary and any changes to it by users are ignored.
In order to take advantage of the new command, make sure all mail servers are upgraded to release 8.5.3 or later. In addition, if you wish to see the command listed, you can upgrade the design of your admin4.nsf using the admin4.ntf supplied with release 8.5.3.
