Migrating WebSphere Application Server V6.1 to 7.0 while leaving WebSphere Portal V6.1 intact

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Can I upgrade WebSphere Application Server V6.1.0.x to 7.0.x if I already have a WebSphere Portal 6.1.x instance installed?

Answer

Yes, this is supported with the following software maintenance levels:

    • WebSphere Application Server V7.0.0.11 or higher
and either of the following:
    • WebSphere Portal V6.1.0.4/6.1.5.1 with the fix installed for APAR PM25140 on 6.1.0.4
    • WebSphere Portal V6.1.0.5/6.1.5.2 with the fix installed for APAR PM25140 on 6.1.0.5
This is not supported with WebSphere Portal V6.1.5.0, 6.1.0.3 or below, and not with any previous fix pack levels of the Application Server.

Complete instructions are included in the readme for the fix, as found on Fix Central. You can also find complete instructions in the wiki article in Related URLs.
