FFDC logs for WebSphere Process Server (WPS) contain java.io.IOException: ADMD0004E and TCPIP socket cannot be opened

Problem(Abstract)

After completing version-to-version migration and starting the version 7.0 deployment manager, the FFDC logs shows an exception.

Symptom

You might see the following type of exception:

FFDC Exception:java.io.IOException SourceId:com.ibm.ws.management.discovery.DiscoveryService.sendQuery ProbeId:189 Reporter:com.ibm.ws.management.discovery.DiscoveryService@32db32db
java.io.IOException: ADMD0004E: The TCP socket: 7,273 cannot be opened.  Check if port is opened by remote process.

Cause

The deployment manager tries to access the ports for nodes that are not running.


Resolving the problem

This exception is harmless; you can ignore it. It does not cause any errors or exceptions when the server performs its operations.
