APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edidtion Information Center for
  fteCreateBridgeAgent states that -bfe will format files stored
  on the protocol file server to the charater set identified with
  the -bfe parameter, when this was used to create the Bridge
  Agent. Upon completion of a transfer to the server, the file
  remained in its origianl format unconverted.

Problem summary

• When transferring a file to a protocol bridge agent, the agent
  would not convert the file to the target character encoding as
  specified by the protocolServerFileEncoding property in the
  agent.properties configuration file for a text mode transfer.
  The initial value of this property is set according to the value
  of the -bfe parameter of the fteCreateBridgeAgent command.
  
  Instead, the file would be written to the protocol bridge
  agent in its original character encoding. No conversion would
  take place. Conversion will only occur if the destination
  encoding is explicitly set on the transfer.

  All users of the protocol bridge making transfers in text mode

Problem conclusion

• The code has been altered to ensure that the protocol bridge
  agent will convert the character encoding of a file for a text
  mode transfer by default to the value of its
  protocolServerFileEncoding property.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix
  pack 7.0.4.2.
