Authentication failure when installing a Lotus Connections fix

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem

Attempting to install a fix for Lotus® Connections 1.0.2 results in an authentication failure. The following error is generated in the log:

[wsadmin] WASX7246E: Cannot establish "SOAP" connection to host "myhost.com" because of an authentication failure. Ensure that user and password are correct on the command line or in a properties file.

Cause

The value of the -wasUserId parameter that is getting passed to the updateLC command is not being read by the fix correctly.

Resolving the problem

Navigate to the following directory:

AIX:
/usr/IBM/WebSphere/LotusConnections/ConfigEngine/properties

Linux:
/opt/IBM/WebSphere/LotusConnections/ConfigEngine/properties

Microsoft Windows:
C:\IBM\Workplace\LotusConnections\ConfigEngine\properties

  1. Open the wkplc_ascii.properties file in a text editor. Add the WebSphere Application Server administrative user ID as the value of the wasUserId property.

Note: Make sure the WasUserid value appears only once in the file.

  2. Make the same change to the wkplc.properties file in the following directory:

    AIX:
    /usr/IBM/WebSphere/LotusConnections/ConfigEngine/profiles
    /<profile_name>/properties

    Linux:
    /opt/IBM/WebSphere/LotusConnections/ConfigEngine/profiles
    /<profile_name>/properties

    Microsoft Windows:
    C:\IBM\WebSphere\LotusConnections\ConfigEngine\profiles
    \<profile_name>\properties

  3. Use the Update Installer to apply the fix.
