You receive an invalid cross certificate error when a Lotus Notes® user, User/A, attempts to access Domino Server/B. What is causing this error? How does one resolve this error message?
To resolve this error message:
- Using User/A's Notes client, open the local names.nsf and delete any cross certificates that exist for Server/B.
- Recreate the cross certificate to Server/B. To do this, click File -> Database -> Open and select a database on Server/B
- Accept the new certificate when within the messagebox that appears.
Note: If User/A and Server/B are registered in different Domino directories, verify that User/A does not posses a Person document in the Domino directory that contains the Server document for Server/B.
- If User/A is in Server/B's Domino directory, delete the Person document entry and have User/A attempt to access Server/B again.
