Basic steps to configure SQL Anywhere for use with TestManager

Troubleshooting

Problem

Sybase® SQL Anywhere® does not work with IBM® Rational® TestManager, unless the set up for this purpose is correct. This technote goes through the basic steps of a typical configuration. You configure SQL Anywhere in Sybase Central™.

Resolving The Problem

This is what you need to do.

  1. Install SQL Anywhere

  2. Create and run the service on the machine, that stores the projects.

    a. Go to Start > Programs > Sybase SQL Anywhere Server > Sybase Central.

    b. Right Click on Sybase SQL Anywhere in the left pane of the Sybase Central window.

    c. Select the Services folder in the left treeview.

    d. Double-click on Add Service.

    e. Give the service a name.

    f. Select Network Database Server.

    g. Keep the default executable.

    h. Use parameters
    -n <name_of_service_from_step_e> -gd all
(for more information on the above parameters see Technote 1168748)

    i. On the following screens click: Next > Next > Finish.

    j. In Sybase Central, right-click on the service, and select Start. You can also do this from the services list of the operating system. Consider to set this new service to start automatically.

  3. Create a project from Rational Administrator and provide the Service Name from step 2e in the field Server Name.
