PK79970: MSGDSNU180I ISSUED WHEN RUNNING MULTIPLE COPY JOBS OF DIFFERENT PARTITIONS OF A TABLESPACE ARE RUN IN PARALLEL

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer started multiple copy jobs of different partitions
  of the same partitioned tablespace.
  One of the job ended with RC08 and the following message:
  DSNU180I  ) 350 01:26:26.19 DSNUGUCC - UTILITY IS NOT COMPATIBLE
      WITH THE COPY UTILITY UTILID = IMGCOPY, OBJECT = PARTDB.PART
  It should be possible to copy different partitions in parallel.

    User ran COPY utility of a single partition of
  a partition-by-growth (PBG) table space using DSNUM n
  while a different job was copying a different
  partition of the same table space at the same time.
  Although this is allowed, the job received MSGDSNU180I
  (utility not compatible) and ended with rc8.
    This occurred due to incorrect logic in utility
  serialization code for PBG objects.
  

Problem conclusion

• Utility serialization code was changed to allow COPY utility
  to run on separate partitions of a partition-by-growth
  table space at the same time.
