Abstract

Utilization tracking library and reporting tool for supported IBM XL C, C/C++ and Fortran compilers for AIX.

Download Description

The XL C, C/C++ and Fortran compilers for AIX provide a mechanism for clients to track compiler utilization within their organization and detect whether that utilization exceeds the client's concurrent user license entitlements. Please refer to "Compiler Utilization: Tracking and Reporting" for details about utilization tracking and reporting.

Prerequisites

The minimum PTF levels of XL compilers that can use this feature are:

- October 2010 PTF for XL C for AIX, V10.1
- October 2010 PTF for XL C/C++ for AIX, V10.1
- October 2010 PTF for XL Fortran for AIX, V12.1
- November 2010 PTF for XL C Enterprise Edition for AIX, V9.0
- November 2010 PTF for XL C/C++ Enterprise Edition for AIX, V9.0
- November 2010 PTF for XL Fortran Enterprise Edition for AIX, V11.1

Installation Instructions

Installation Instructions for the Utilization Tracking shared Library:


1. Download the Utilization Tracking Library package libut11.tar.Z

2. Untar the package:

   zcat libut11.tar.Z | tar -xf -

3. If you accept the license, run the installation command:

   installp -aXYgd . all

4. To verify that the utilization reporting tool is installed correctly,
run the following command:

   lslpp -l libut11

You can then see the following output:

Fileset Level State Description
  -------------------------------
  Path: /usr/lib/libut11/
    libut11.a 1.1.0.0 COMMITTED IBM utilization tracking library

Installation Instructions for the Utilization Reporting Tool:


1. Download the utilization tracking tool package urt11.tar.Z

2. Untar the package:

   zcat urt11.tar.Z | tar -xf  

3. Change subdirectory:

   cd urt/

4. If you accept the license agreement, run the installation command:

   installp -aXYgd . all

5. To verify that the utilization reporting tool is installed correctly, run the following command:

   lslpp -l urt11

You can then see the following output:

  Fileset Level State Description
  -------------------------------
  Path: /usr/lib/objrepos
  urt11 1.1.0.3 COMMITTED IBM utilization reporting tool for AIX

  Path: /etc/objrepos
  urt11 1.1.0.3 COMMITTED IBM utilization reporting tool for AIXl

Utilization reporting tool urt11.tar.Z - this tool generates the reporting for the compiler utilization.
