IC88180: WEBSPHERE MQ FILE TRANSFER EDITION 7.0.4 TRANSFERS TAKE TOO LONG TO PROCESS WHEN THE DESTINATION AGENT REACHES CAPACITY

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When the destination FTE agent reaches capacity, transfers
    cannot be processed. Messages fill up the source FTE agent.
    The destination agent is restarted but the transfers remain
    on the senders STATE queue.
    
    Approximately 100 minutes after the destination agent was
    restarted, the transfers did complete.
    The message from the destination agent was:
    [10/09/2012 17:58:27:604 EST] 00000080 TransferRecei I
    BFGTR0063I: Transfer ID: 123451234512345123451234512345
    entering recovery, immediately, due to recoverable error:
    BFGTR0059I: The transfer receiver timed out waiting for
    data from the source agent.
    
    Transfers should not be delayed for that amount of time if
    there is an interruption to the FTE service.

    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
    When the destination agent reached its capacity any new
    transfers were not processed and were placed on a list of
    'active' transfers. As the list of 'active transfers' reached
    the maxSourceTransfer limit the transfers that the destination
    agent was attempting to recover could not be processed.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR solves the problem by making sure that any new
    transfers that can not be processed due to the destination agent
    reaching its capacity are moved onto an 'inactive' list allowing
    the transfers that the destination agent is expected to be
    allowed to process, are processed.
