Error description

  • The customer reported a problem getting messages out over the
SWIFT network. They were having a problem getting the select
application to SWIFT. They are receiving a DB2 -302 error and
it appeared to be on the LTGROUP field. The customer decided
to remove the LTs from the LT Group. They then attempted to
login and select to SWIFT but were unsuccessful. They did not
stop the flow of messages from MERVA and at this point messages
were written to the OAMS table without an LTGROUP. Next they
placed the LTs back in the LTGROUP and were successful in
getting logged into SWIFT. This caused a situation where there
were over 1300 messages stuck in the OAMS database. All new
messages were getting processed both in and out of SWIFT. Once
we determined what had happened we had the customer stop the
flow of messages from MERVA and then remove the LTs fromt he
LTGROUP. At this point when they logged into SWIFT the stuck
messages were processed. Then the customer logged out of SWIFT,
added the LTs back to the LTGROUP and now when they logged
back into SWIFT they were able to get the messages to process
normally. The DB2 -302 error caused unpredictable results when
logging in and selecting application to the SWIFT network. It
was determined that the problem was with the fact the customer
was using all 12 characters for the LTGROUP name. There was a
code defect and could be circumvented by defining the LTGROUP
name with 11 characters or less.

When all 12 characters for the LTGROUP name were used
a DB2 error occured. The DB2 -302 error caused unpredictable
results when logging in and selecting application to the SWIFT
network. When 11 characters or less for the LTGROUP name were
used the problem did not occur.

Problem conclusion

  • Formerly, when all 12 characters for the LTGROUP name were used
a DB2 error occured. The DB2 -302 error caused unpredictable
results when logging in and selecting application to the SWIFT
network. When 11 characters or less for the LTGROUP name were
used the problem did not occur.
Now, for the LTGROUP name 12 characters or less can be used.
