Error description

  • Protocol Bridge Agents should only send the 'CWD' command to FTP
or SFTP servers if there is a leading slash character at the
start of the: <file> element in the <transferSet>.

For example, the <file> element could look like the following:

    <file>myftpserver:/MYFILE.EXT</file>

This led to the error :
    08:44:08.390.0Q 0011 [[FILE]PB-FTP-RX : 500 Syntax error,
    command CWD unrecognized .

This problem is solved in WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer
    Edition V7.5.0 Protocol Bridge Agents.

Local fix

  • Workaround: Use a double slash at the start of the
    filespecification, such
    as:equens://MFC.R0006245.VERWINF*.*.ZIP

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition
V7.0.4 who use a Protocol Bridge Agent to retrieve files from an
    FTP, FTPS or SFTP server.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When receiving files from an FTP, FTPS or SFTP server, the
Protocol Bridge Agent uses the information in the file
specification it has been given in order to locate the file on
the FTP, FTPS or SFTP server. The Protocol Bridge Agent breaks
the file specification up into two parts:

    - The directory where the file is located.
    - The name of the file.

    It then issues the command:

    CWD <directory name>

to the FTP, FTPS or SFTP server, to change into the correct
    directory, before requesting the file.

The Protocol Bridge Agent assumed that the file specification
would always contain a directory, which was incorrect. If the
Protocol Bridge Agent was passed a file specification that
just contained a filename, then it sent a CWD command with no
arguments to the FTP, FTPS or SFTP server. This caused the FTP
or SFTP server to return the error:

500 Syntax error, command CWD unrecognized

to the Protocol Bridge Agent, which resulted in the file
    transfer failing.

Problem conclusion

  • The Protocol Bridge Agent has been updated to only send the
CWD command to an FTP, FTPS or SFTP server if the file
    specification contains a directory path.
