Error description

  • SQL4401C when starting the DB2 Admin Server (DAS). Updating the
    DAS or drop and then recreate the DAS does not resolve the
    SQL4401C error.
    A DB2 trace shows EACCES (permission denied) error at the system
    call gidToGroup(). This error occurs during a switch user ID and
    switch group ID call. The cause of the problem is that some of
    the secondary groups of the DAS ID are missing when we switch
    user, thus causing the access error.
    For example, the db2adm DAS ID belongs to the primary group
    dasadm1, and secondary groups db2grp1, db2fgrp1 and db2adm1.
    uid=301(db2adm) gid=201(dasadm1)
    groups=0(system),202(db2grp1),203(db2fgrp1),205(db2adm1)
    The EACCESS error occurs when DB2 switches to DAS ID db2adm and
    tries to access some system information (for example: call
    getgrgid) where the primary group dasadm1 does not have enough
    authority.
