Error description

  • Client backups fail at seemingly random intervals with ANS0335E
system resource is in use messages. This problem can arise
during any client backup job that uses client-side
deduplication, node replication from source dedup to target
dedup, or Export node when source dedup and target dedup.

The following messages come from an observed case where a TSM
backup/archive client performing a backup vm command encountered
the "system resource in use" condition, as seen in that client's
    dsmerror.log file:
04/06/2012 02:40:54 ANS0266I The dsmEndTxn vote is ABORT, so
    check the reason field.

This is caused by a lock conflict that happens internally to the
TSM server during this backup processing. TSM backup/archive
clients will retry the backup when this condition is
encountered, whereas backups using the API (including all TDPs)
will log a failure. Return code 233 or 254 will always appear
depending on retry attempt or server level.

The underlying issue is that the deduplication linkage process
breaks down due to target chunks being in-use or deleted on the
    TSM server.

    Other symptoms might be:
    ANS1228E Sending of object '\\uncname\path\filename'failed
ANS7899E The client referenced a deduplicated extent that does
not exist on the TSM server
