IC75334: PERMISSION PROBLEMS ACCESSING APPLICATION FILES BY USER ACCOUNT AFTER THE APPLICATION IS INSTALLED BY AN ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When an Administrator account installs the application and the
  FilepathSrv.exe process starts several files get created with
  the Administrators priviledges.  This results in access
  violation problems on files in the application data directory
  if a User Account later logs in and the FilepathSrv.exe
  process starts.
  When the user logs in  the systray popup will tell the user to
  check the View Report page or System Event or Application.log
  files.
  Inside the System logs files the user may see error messages
  6000,6002,and 6013  that contain text saying:
  "Failed to open PATH TO DATA DIRECTORY\launch_cdp_gui.url for
  writing result:5018"
  "PATH TO DATA DIRECTORY\replication.log The current operation
  is denied by the operating system due to permission"
  "PATH TO DATA DIRECTORY\replication-active5, The current
  operation is denied by the operating system due to permission"
  "PATH TO DATA DIRECTORY\metrics.xml The current operation is
  denied by the operating system due to permission"
  

Local fix

Problem summary

•  When and Administrator account installs the app
  lication and the FilepathSrv.exe process starts several files ge
  t created with the Administrators privledges. This results in ac
  cess violation problems on the files in the application data dir
  ectory if a User Account later logs in and the FilepathSrv.exe p
  rocess starts.
  

Problem conclusion

•  The Authenticated Users has been given full
  access to the application data directory in version 3.1.8.1 and
  higher
