Hardware Service Levels

THIS SECTION CONTAINS INFORMATION THAT IS HARDWARE SERVICE LEVEL RELATED. 3. 89/05/01 ITEM DELETED 90/08/02 2. 89/03/23 THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION PERTAINS TO THE 3990-3: A. IDCAMS LISTDATA COUNTS WILL INDICATE THAT THE CACHE COUNTERS ARE NOT INCREMENTING FOR VOLUMES THAT HAVE CACHE SET OFF BY THE SETCACHE COMMAND. THIS FAILURE IS DUE TO 3990-3 MICROCODE AND WILL BE CORRECTED WITH THE RELEASE SUPPORTING CACHE FAST WRITE - SCHEDULED 1H 1989. THE CACHE RMF REPORTER (CRR) WILL BE SIMILARLY AFFECTED SINCE THE CRR CALLS LISTDATA FOR THE SAME PURPOSE. THE EFFECT ON THE CRR IS TWOFOLD: (1) THERE WILL BE NO READ TO WRITE RATIOS OR I/O RATES FOR VOLUMES THAT HAVE CACHE SET OFF. (2) THE TOTAL I/O RATE FOR THE 3990 SUBSYSTEM WILL BE UNDERSTATED BY THE NUMBER OF I/O'S ISSUED TO VOLUMES THAT HAVE CACHE SET OFF. B. THE CLEARFENCE CONTROL COMMAND UNDER ICKDSF WILL ONLY CLEAR A FENCED DEVICE. CHANNEL OR STORAGE PATH FENCES WILL NOT CLEAR. A 'START REPAIR' CE ACTION FOR THE ERROR THAT CAUSED THE CHANNEL OR STORAGE PATH TO BE FENCED, WILL CLEAR THAT FENCE. THE STORAGE PATH RESTART SWITCH WILL ALSO RESET THE FENCES. READ AND OBSERVE THE DIRECTIONS IN THE PLANNING, INSTALLATION AND STORAGE ADMINISTRATION (PISA) GUIDE BEFORE OPERATING THE SWITCH. C. NON-DISRUPTIVE DEINSTALL OF DASD DEVICES IS NOT YET SUPPORTED. 1. 88/12/01 WHEN ATTACHING D/T3990 TO A CHANNEL ON D/T4381 PROCESSOR, HAVE THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE CHECK THAT THE MICROCODE PATCHES SUPPORTING D/T3990 ATTACHMENT HAVE BEEN INSTALLED.

Software Service Levels

THIS SECTION CONTAINS THE MINIMUM REQUIRED SOFTWARE PRODUCT LEVELS REQUIRED TO SUPPORT THIS DEVICE. 2. 91/12/23 THE PARALLEL INTERFACES THAT MAY BE PRESENT ON A 3990 ESCON MICROCODE PLATFORM MACHINE MAY BE ACCESSED BY ANY SUPPORTED HOST OPERATING SYSTEM AT ANY SUPPORTED LEVEL OF THAT HOST CODE FOR THAT GIVEN OPERATING SYSTEM. THIS IS TRUE ONLY FOR PARALLEL INTERFACES AND USERS MUST STILL ABIDE BY THE RESTRICTION THAT ANY PROCESSOR IMAGE MUST BE EITHER ALL PARALLEL INTERFACES OR ALL ESCON PORTS AND MAY NOT BE A MIXTURE. NO ADDITIONAL TOLERATION SUPPORT IS REQUIRED AT THIS TIME. ESA SOFTWARE IS THE ONLY SUPPORTED HOST OPERATING SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS ESCON CONNECTIVITY. 1. 88/09/06 MINIMUM SOFTWARE SUPPORT LEVEL FOR D/T3990 WITH D/T3380 MODELS INSTALLED: EREP 3.3.2 + UV34383 (8805), UV32646 (8802) ICKDSF 1.9.0 VM/XA SP 1.1.0 (R110) VM/XA SF R2 (R140) + THE FOLLOWING PTFS: UM90015 AT 8708 UM90017 AT 8708 UM90016 AT 8708 UM90019 AT 8801
