APAR status

  • Closed as fixed if next.

Error description

  • The following messages are received when sessions are routed
across an EE connection network VRN:
      IST1139I CONNOUT FAILED - SENSE FFC80004
IST1903I FAILURE OVER VRN vrnname TO CP cpname

This occurs because the IP address associated with the VRN
that was selected for the session route is identical to the
IP address already being used by an existing VRN connection.

New diagnostic messages are needed to identify the VRN and IP
addresses associated with the existing connection.

Local fix

  • specify different local static VIPA addresses for the each EE
    VRN.

In this case, the VTAM start option, IPADDR, was specified. Two
VRNs were defined in the EE XCA major node without the IPADDR
operand on the GROUP statement. This caused both VRNs to default
to the IPADDR value from the start option.

When a line under the GROUP defining a VRN is activated, the
VRN itself is created and is assigned an identifier that
consists of the local SAP address and IPADDR for the VRN. Since
the SAP and IPADDR were the same for both VRNs, the activation
of a line under the second GROUP created a VRN with a duplicate
identifier. Similar definitions were duplicated on remote
    systems.

Later, when sessions were routed across either VRN, they failed
    with the following:
    1. Message IST1139I CONNOUT FAILED - SENSE FFC80004 was issued,
indicating that the addressing keys (local/remote SAP/IPADDR
pairs) duplicate those of a preexisting connection.
    2. Message IST1903I FAILURE OVER vrnname TO CP cpname was issued
to identify the VRN attempting to use the duplicate
       SAP/IPADDR pairs.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • The following change(s) will be included in
    z/OS Communications Server V2R1:
Modules ISTAUCOR and ISTAUCAM and macros ISTAUCPL and IPTADDRS
will be changed to issue additional messages when message
IST1139I CONNOUT FAILED - SENSE FFC80004 occurs on an attempt to
set up a session over an EE VRN. This sense is issued when
duplicate local/remote SAP/IPADDR pairs are detected. Existing
message IST1680I will now be issued to identify the local and
remote IP addresses and new messages will be added to identify
the duplicate EE VRN name. Existing message IST1903I currently
identifies the VRN attempting to use the duplicate SAP/IPADDR
    pairs.

The following will also be changed to add message support:
    ISTCFCMM, ISTINCNO, ISTCFCML, ISTVTMEU, and
    MSG2350.

This APAR is being closed FIN (Fixed If Next) with concurrence

APAR is expected be delivered from IBM in a release(if any)
to be available within the next 36 months.
