Error description

  • Command responses as well as syntax error information is not
presented on the MVS console for commands entered through the
JES2 Initialization deck. Command responses are only sent to
SYSLOG, however without the JES2 command that generated them.

    Verification steps: See problem decsription

    Note:
    -------
When $TA command is included in the initialization deck,
msgHASP249 with "AUTO COMMAND ID=xxxx" is directed to
console ID zero as well as the command response at the
automatic command execution time. (it will go to any
console that has the INTIDS routing attribute)

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Diagnosing problems with commands in *
    * the JES2 initialization deck or issued *
    * by $TA commands is difficult since the *
    * command is not echoed to *
    *                      SYSLOG/console.                         *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Commands in the initialization deck and issued by the JES2
automatic command facility are not echoed to the console or
SYSLOG when issued. This makes diagnosing command problems very
difficult. In addition, the command response for a $TA command
in the initialization deck does not have proper routing
    information.

Problem conclusion

  • TYPE/RESTART (HOT) IPL/REQUIRED (NO) CLPA (NO).

The routing information for the response to a $TA command in the
initialization deck has been corrected. This allows the message
to appear on a console that has a ROUTCDE of 1 or 2.

MSGHASP249 is now issued to echo commands from the
initialization deck and from automatic commands ($TA). The
source identified in the $HASP249 message will be either
    "INITIALIZATION" or "AUTO COMMAND ID=xxxx".
There are some instances where the msg$HASP249 will not
appear at the console such as $J commands that are packaged
within a $TA command and use the L= operand. However,
the msgHASP249 can still be found within SYSLOG. Exit 5
being disabled or enabled will affect whether or not the L=
portion shows up in the msgHASP249 message.

The information in the following JES2 manuals/publications
    is missing/incorrect:

    1.SA22-7537-07 z/OS V1R9.0 JES2 Messages (for HJE7740)
    2.SA22-7537-08 z/OS V1R10.0 JES2 Messages (for HJE7750)
    3.SA22-7537-09 z/OS V1R11.0 JES2 Messages (for HJE7760)
    4.SA22-7537-10 z/OS V1R12.0 JES2 Messages (for HJE7770)

The text for the $HASP249 message is updated with the following
    variable text for "source"

    - INITIALIZATION
The command was included in the JES2 initialization stream

    - AUTO COMMAND ID=xxxx
The command was issued by the JES2 automatic command
facility (using the $TA command). 'xxxx' is the ID
associated with the issuing automatic command

    5.SA22-7526-08 z/OS V1R9.0 JES2 Commands (for HJE7740)
    6.SA22-7526-09 z/OS V1R10.0 JES2 Commands (for HJE7750)
    7.SA22-7526-10 z/OS V1R11.0 JES2 Commands (for HJE7760)

The following changes are all for the section $T A - Display
    specify, and modify automatic commands.

The sentence that starts with "However," in the sub-section
    T=hh.mm, should read:
However, if the above command is given at 13:00, it will be run
    |immediately and repeat every 24 hours from the time of this
    |first run (13:00 for all future days in this case).

Note 1 in the sub-section T=hh.mm, should read:
     1. If you specify a time that is earlier than the current time,
and you have an interval, the command is issued immediately and
    |is repeated according to the specified time interval from the
    |time of this first run.

    The Messages sub-section should read:

    |o The $HASP604 message indicates the contents of the command
    | element being created, displayed, modified, or deleted.
    |
    |o The $HASP249 message echoes the command you issued,
    | indicating that the command was received from the automatic
    | command facility.

    |Assuming the $T A command was issued at console CN3D0, JES2
    |redirects the $HASP636 message in response to the $T A
    |command to out-of-line area B at console CN3D0. JES2 issues
    |the automatic command ($D U,PRT6) every 90 seconds, preceded
    |by the $HASP249 message in the inline area of console CN3D8.
    |JES2 issues the $HASP636 message in response to the automatic
command, then redirects this response to out-of-line area A of
console CN3D8. Neither $HASP604 nor $HASP603 message ID
appears when the response is directed to an out-of-line area.

     4 $t a,i=30,'$du,rdr1,l=CN3E0'

    |At console CN3D0 in the inline area (assuming the example 4
    |command is entered there):
    |$HASP604 ID 5 T=***.** I= 30 L=CN3D0 $DU,RDR1,L=CN3E0

    |At console CN3E0 in the inline area:
    | $HASP249 COMMAND RECEIVED FROM AUTO COMMAND ID=5
    |$DU,RDR1
    | $HASP603 RDR1
     $HASP603 RDR1 UNIT=000C,STATUS=DRAINED,AUTH=(DEVICE=NO,
     $HASP603 JOB=NO,SYSTEM=NO),CLASS=A,HOLD=NO,MSGCLASS=A,
     $HASP603 PRIOINC=0,PRIOLIM=15,PRTDEST=LOCAL,
     $HASP603 PUNDEST=LOCAL,SYSAFF=(ANY),TRACE=NO,
     $HASP603 XEQDEST=LOCAL

    |Assuming the $T A command was issued at console CN3D0,
JES2 redirects the response to the $T A command ($HASP604)
    |to console CN3D0. JES2 issues the automatic command
    |($d u,rdr1) every 30 seconds, preceded by the $HASP249 message.
JES2 issues the $HASP603 message in response to the automatic
command and redirects this response to console CN3E0.

Note: Neither $HASP604 nor $HASP603 message ID appears when the
response is directed to an out-of-line area.

Updates will only be made to the 'JES2 Messages' and 'JES2
Commands' manuals in future JES2 releases.
