Eclipse client communicates with servers that use either the same version or one-level earlier version

Question & Answer

Question

Can the IBM® Rational® Asset Manager Eclipse client communicate with a Rational Asset Manager server of a different version?

Answer

If it is possible, use the same versions of both the Rational Asset Manager server and the Eclipse client. However, the Eclipse client can communicate with a Rational Asset Manager server of the same version or of a version that is earlier by one level. This includes fix packs of each version.

For example, the Rational Asset Manager version 7.1.1.1 Eclipse client works with the following Rational Asset Manager server versions:

  • 7.1.1.1
  • 7.1.1
  • 7.1.0.1
  • 7.1

The version 7.1.1.1 Eclipse client does not work with a server version earlier than 7.1.0.0.
