IZ87535: LINK TIME SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES USING -QIPA ASSEMBLER OPTION
Closed as program error.
When using a high level of optimization (-qipa) with embedded assembler code, especially when coupled with -g option, linker time is significantly increased, due to the large number of debugger pseudo-op instructions. Change the way assembler pseudo-ops are handled.
When the compiler generates an assembler source file (because of asm directives in the C/C++ source code) and the -g flag is used, the assembler can take a very long time.
Improve the performance of the assembler when the source file contains a large number of debugger-related pseudo-ops. Ignore invalid .line pseudo-ops so that assembly is successful.
