APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The client sessions lost their connection to 2 TPF systems, bith
    on the
    same TOS ESCON server. This server has a Luminex card.
    
    The Windows Application Event Log showed the 9 messages
    associated with
    the incident, between 14:12:45 and 14:13:48. The event log
    message
    before these messges was at 12:01:01. The next message after
    these was
    at 14:29:54, saying "Driver CutePDF Writer required for printer
    CutePDF
    Writer is unknown. Contact the administrator to install the
    driver
    before you log in again". The 9 messages are:
    14:12:45 Broadcom BCM5708C: The network link is down. Check to
    make sure
    the network cable is properly connected.
    14:12:52 Network adapter
    \DEVICE\{A3BD2309-6BF1-439A-9F21-7DCAEBF67F18}
    is activated and is participating in network traffic.
    14:12:52 Broadcom BCM5708C: Network controller configured for
    1Gb
    full-duplex link.
    14:12:56 Network adapter
    \DEVICE\{A3BD2309-6BF1-439A-9F21-7DCAEBF67F18}
    is de-activated and is no longer participating in network
    traffic.
    14:12:56 Broadcom BCM5708C: The network link is down. Check to
    make sure
    the network cable is properly connected.
    14:13:00 Network adapter
    \DEVICE\{A3BD2309-6BF1-439A-9F21-7DCAEBF67F18}
    is activated and is participating in network traffic.
    14:13:00 Broadcom BCM5708C: Network controller configured for
    1Gb
    full-duplex link.
    14:13:48 The IBM TPF Operations Server service terminated
    unexpectedly.
    It has done this 1 time(s).
    
    In the incident ime frame (14:12:48 to 14:13:48) the Application
    Event
    Log had 88 errors and 4 informational message. Most of the
    errors were
    about message or command errors, missing heart beats, and
    missing
    acknoledgements. At the end of these came a Luminex board
    messages
    "Notification: Client Disconnected, Device 2 is now Not Ready!",
    "Notification: Client Disconnected, Device 1 is now Not Ready!",
    and
    "Notification: Client Disconnected, Device 0 is now Not Ready!"
    (the
    board is actually device 0),
    then three identical TOS LAN errors saying:
    "java.net.SocketException: Connection reset"
    and that was the last of the Application messages at that time

    When a system error is returned from any host interface, this
    may cause the TOS server to crash and terminate all clients.
    The TOS server was incorrectly free up its internal resource.

    This APAR must be applied to TPF Operations Server version
    1.2.05
    To maintain a list of APARs applied to your system, we suggest
    that
    you create a directory named "APAR" under the TPF Operations
    Server base directory.
    Keep all APAR text files (ICxxxxx.txt) that are applied to your
    system as a log.
    
    To apply this APAR to your system, do the following:
    1.  Fall back the TPF system.
    2.  Stop all clients
    3.  Stop the server
    4.  Unzip IC58120.zip to a temporary location.
    5.  Run "tosapar.bat".
    6.  Restart the server
    7.  Restart all client sessions.
    8.  Fall back the TPF system.
