Abstract
This document contains runtime components for use with applications developed with IBM XL C/C++ for Linux, V10.1.
Download Description
If you wish to run an application developed using the IBM XL C/C++ for Linux, V10.1 compiler, but do not have the corresponding version of compiler installed, then you need to install the Runtime Environment package).
Note: Depending on the application, in addition to the Runtime Environment package, you may also need to install the Addons package. The Addons package contains files that may be required by some third-party applications. Only download and install the Addons package if instructed by your application provider.
This update contains the following APARs:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 5 (RHEL 5) for IBM Power Systems
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL 6) for IBM Power Systems
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 1 (SLES 10) for IBM Power Systems
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (SLES 11) for IBM Power Systems
RHEL 5
This update fixes the following APARs*:
LI76151 - Demangle memory leak
LI76152 - Slower runtime performance with xlC vs g++
LI76266 - Adding RHEL6 support to XL C/C++ for Linux, V10.1 RTE (RHEL 5)
LI76187 - June 2011 Runtime for XL C/C++ for Linux, V10.1 (RHEL 5/RHEL 6)
Note: If the 32-bit libstdc++ package is not installed on the target RHEL6 system, running programs compiled with the XL C/C++ compiler may fail due to the missing shared library libstdc++.so.6. To resolve the issue, install the following 32-bit package from the RHEL6 distribution:
rpm -ivh libstdc++-4.4.4-13.el6.ppc.rpm
SLES 10 and SLES 11
This update fixes the following APARs*:
LI76217 - Demangle memory leak
LI76218 - Slower runtime performance with xlC vs g++
LI76189 - June 2011 Runtime for XL C/C++ for Linux, V10.1 (SLES 10/ SLES 11)

Operating system (one of):
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2 (RHEL 5.2)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL 6)
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2 (SLES 10 SP2)
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (SLES11)
- You can use any of the IBM Power Systems servers as long as it is supported by your operating system distribution.

Technical Support
The IBM XL C/C++ for Linux, V10.1 Runtime Environment is not supported as a stand-alone product.
If you suspect a problem with this C++ Runtime Environment while using it with a third-party application, contact your application provider for support.
Full support (installation, defect support, and general questions) for this C++ Runtime Environment is available as part of the software maintenance agreement for the IBM XL C/C++ for Linux, V10.1 compiler.
