APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • EDCORINT parses the TCPIP.DATA (/etc/hosts) file for LE. The
HOSTNAME length is incorrectly determined because trailing
blanks are not stripped off before the length is determined.
    ADDITIONAL SYMPTOMS:
FTP client will receive the following error:
    CY0898 ftpStart: setibmopt error (138/11B3005A) - EDC5138I No
    such device or address.
This will be seen when FTP is invoked with trace. This fails
in interactive TSO and works in batch.

Local fix

  • If possible specify a HOSTNAME without trailing blanks.

    ****************************************************************
Code within the module EDCORINT does not properly null terminate
the hostname string. This causes the __IPHOST function to
    return an invalid hostname.

Problem conclusion

  • Code in EDCORINT was corrected to properly terminate the
    hostname string.
