Problem
This technote discusses a cause for, []Error: The project location is not fully trusted by the .NET runtime[], when using Microsoft® Visual Studio® .NET with IBM® Rational® ClearCase®.
Symptom
When saving a .NET project inside of a dynamic view, the following error is displayed:
The project location is not fully trusted by the .NET runtime. This is usually because it is either a network share or mapped to a network share on the local machine. If the output path is under the project location, your code will not execute as fully trusted and you may receive unexpected security exceptions.
Cause
This error is due to the .NET runtime security level being set too high.
Resolving The Problem
Loosen up the runtime security level in .NET:
- Adjust the >NET Framework security level. Click Start > (Settings >) Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Microsoft .NET Framework Wizards
Typically located in: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705\ConfigWizards.exe
- Click "Adjust .NET Security".
- Ensure "Make changes to this computer" is selected and click Next
- Highlight "My Computer" and adjust the Trust slider bar to Full Trust and click Next.
- You may also need to re-adjust the Trust for your Intranet. Highlight "Local Intranet" and
adjust the Trust slider bar to Full Trust and click Next
6. Confirm the security changes and verify "My Computer" and "Local Intranet" are set to Full Trust and click Finish.
7. Close .NET Wizard and restart .NET
Note: If the application requires a Higher Level of security, you should contact Microsoft for the implications of increasing the security setting for a given .NET project or solution, and any additional details related to this feature.
