Error description

  • In DB2 v10 CM9, customer cannot use Flashcopy with DB2
    utilities as this is allowed only in New Function Mode.
    Though in DSNZPARM, it is allowed to specify YES for the
    following parms:
    FLASHCOPY_COPY=YES
    FLASHCOPY_LOAD=YES
    FLASHCOPY_REORG_TS=YES
    FLASHCOPY_REBUILD_INDEX=YES
    FLASHCOPY_REORG_INDEX=YES
    Obviously customer should specify NO.....or at least the
    default should be NO. By the way, in case YES is specified, a
    COPY job that is run (a standard copy job, without using the
    Flashcopy options in the utility statement) terminates with the
    following error:
    LISTDEF COPY_LIST INCLUDE TABLESPACE DB1.TS1
    TEMPLATE SCOPY  UNIT(SYSDA) DISP(NEW,CATLG,DELETE)
                    DSN(DSNT1.&DB..&TS..CPY1.D&TIME.)
    COPY LIST COPY_LIST COPYDDN(SCOPY) SHRLEVEL CHANGE
    >>> DSNU123I   356 00:53:47.28 DSNUGFCB -
     - ATTEMPT TO USE NEW FUNCTION BEFORE NEW FUNCTION <<<
    .
    OK, this is obvious as this is not New Function Mode, but this i
    not working as documented in the manuals and the above ZPARM
    parameters for Flashcopy processing should be ignored by
    Utilities running in DB2 v10 CM9.

Local fix

  • Turn off Flashcopy parameters on DSNZPARM when in DB2 v10 CM9
    or CM8.

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available. *
    ****************************************************************
    1. COPY utility was restarted with the FLASHCOPY_COPY zparm
    value different than the first invocation, causing an ABENDS0C4
    RC00000004 DSNUBBID +x'22D2'.

    2. When FLASHCOPY_COPY zparm is YES on CM8 or CM9 mode, it will
    result in DSNU123I - ATTEMPT TO USE NEW FUNCTION BEFORE NEW
    FUNCTION MODE and RETURN CODE 8.

Problem conclusion

  • COPY utility has been changed to handle the restart with the
    zparm change, and ignore the FLASHCOPY zparm in CM mode.
