In IBM® Tivoli®Netcool®/OMNIbus, when an event expires that event is acknowledged in IBM Tivoli® Monitoring (ITM), but if the problem still exists, ITM re-opens the situation and an update event will be sent from ITM to Netcool/OMNIbus. This update event does not contain all the necessary attributes, causing partial event data to be displayed in Netcool/OMNIbus. This utility helps resolve this situation.
To address this concern, this utility creates a table, to cache event data, in the Netcool/OMNIbus ObjectServer 'custom' database. It also adds triggers to the status and itm events tables in the ObjectServer alerts database. These triggers will cache expired events. When those situations either automatically re-opened or are manually opened in ITM, the event synchronization brings the events data to Netcool/OMNIbus. The triggers again take control and restore the missing attributes using the cached event data. This stores full event data in the alerts.status table once again. Besides, the caching and restoring of events the automation logic also purges the cache on a regular interval, and can log the change information to an output file.
Files in this package:
itm_event_cache_1.sql - This sql script will create a table in 'custom' database, and triggers on itm_send_events and status tables in 'alerts' database in Netcool/OMNIbus ObjectServer.
itm_event_cache_uninstall_1.sql - This sql script will uninstall all the components installed using the installs script.
Complete the instructions in the technote in the link below.
How to install?
- Transfer itm_event_cache_1.sql to the Netcool/OMNIbus server, to a known location, for example /tmp
- Use nco_sql command to run the script. NCO_HOME/bin/nco_sql -server server-name -user user-name < /tmp/itm_event_cache_1.sql
