Using Capacity on Demand (CoD)

Capacity on Demand (CoD) allows you to dynamically activate one or more resources on your server as your business peaks dictate. You can activate inactive processors or memory units that are already installed on your server on a temporary or permanent basis.

Once you have set up your environment to take advantage of Capacity on Demand, you can use your HMC to:

• Activate Capacity on Demand resources
• View how many processors you have, how many are available, and how many may be activated.
• View how much memory you have, how much is available, and how much may be activated.

To activate Capacity on Demand resources:

1. In the navigation pane, select Systems Management.
2. Select Servers.
3. In the tasks pad, select Capacity on Demand (CoD).
4. Select Enter CoD Code.
5. Enter the code you received to activate CoD resources.
