Seizing opportunities and building on success in 2014

December 2013

With so many of us focused on the year-end push, I'd like to take a moment to look toward the year ahead. We've got some exciting plans for 2014, and we look forward to working with you, our Business Partners, to identify and make the most of every available opportunity. With that in mind, we're hard at work preparing for several outstanding events where you can build your skills, enhance your understanding of key solutions, and connect with others in the ecosystem who can help you tackle your biggest challenges. Here are a few such events....

  • IBM Connect 2014: Find out how you and your business can benefit from the powerful combination of social, collaborative, mobile, cloud and other technologies at IBM Connect 2014 (26-30 Jan 2014 in Orlando, Florida). Here's your opportunity to gain insights from industry thought leaders, who can provide a closer look at these solutions and show you how to apply leading-edge techniques to your business. This year's event will include a special focus on our Business Partners, including early-bird pricing, a Business Partner Day on 26 Jan 2014 and an exclusive Business Partner Cafe.
  • Entrepreneur Week: Just a few days later, we're launching our inaugural Entrepreneur Week (3-7 Feb 2014) with events taking place online and in locations worldwide, including face-to-face and virtual mentoring sessions, a women entrepreneur-focused event, and a LiveStream broadcast of the SmartCamp Global Finals in San Francisco. Stay tuned for more details!
  • IBM PartnerWorld Leadership Conference: The following week (10-13 Feb 2014) in Las Vegas, the PartnerWorld Leadership Conference focuses on building success for IBM Business Partners and our mutual clients. Key topics will include Big Data Analytics, Cloud, Mobile and Social Business, as well as IT infrastructure and how to evolve your business for success. IBM, industry and client thought leaders will be on hand with insights to help you understand these concepts and how they can work for you.
  • IBM Pulse 2014 is all about the cloud! Enterprises are moving to the cloud in droves, so the opportunity in this space is huge! Join more than 9,000 of your peers at Pulse 2014 (23-26 Feb 2014 in Las Vegas) to explore the challenges and best practices in a broad range of cloud-related topics. In particular, the "Reinventing Your Business with IBM Cloud" stream highlights the transformational benefits of cloud and new developments in Software as a Service, Platform as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service. Pulse will include a Business Partner Day (23 Feb 2014) and a series of developer-focused events, including Hackathon. Register now and get the early-bird rate!

And 2014 will be about more than conferences—let's not forget about Watson! It's been only a few weeks since IBM announced the Watson Ecosystem, and this new community of innovators is generating a huge amount of excitement out of the gate. More than 100 businesses have submitted proposals for "Powered by Watson" applications since the launch, and Watson has garnered more than 41 million Twitter impressions in that time.

We're looking forward to working with Business Partners like you to launch the first generation of Watson-powered apps by bringing the cognitive capabilities of Watson to the cloud. Find out more in my recent Executive Corner post announcing the Watson Ecosystem.

I wish you all the best in the final weeks of 2013, and look forward to collaborating with you in 2014 to help you and your clients achieve success!
