Blue-mixing it up in the cloud

April 2014

One of the joys of my role is that meeting with many of our fantastic Business Partners. I recently connected with two of them who are really moving boldly forward and realizing business value through IBM's rapid execution. MyMenu, who was the winner of our Pulse 2014 App Throwdown, provides technology to help customers and restaurants connect for a better dining experience. eyeQ provides an intuitive interface for shoppers to improve their retail experience. Both of these companies are reaching for the clouds with offerings that run in IBM's BlueMix environment.

By now you've probably heard of the BlueMix implementation of IBM's Open Cloud Architecture designed to enable you to rapidly build, deploy, and manage your cloud applications, while tapping a growing ecosystem of available services and runtime frameworks. BlueMix is very flexible, allowing developers to work with their choice of language, such as Java, Python, Ruby, or Node, and deploy them into the cloud. Now it will be easier than ever to get applications running without having to devote a lot of internal tech resources or deal with building your own infrastructure. The future is cloud and this will help get you there fast!

Don't wonder if this would work for you. IBM is featuring 100 Days of BlueMix. It's a series of workshops where you will have the opportunity to deploy your application and have it running in a matter of hours! You'll learn the fundamentals of building and deploying your application in the cloud (JazzHub and BlueMix). You'll work with BlueMix experts on how to use the product and migrate your application. You'll also help shape BlueMix with your input and feedback.

Events are already scheduled worldwide with more coming soon. Find an event in your area and sign up now. I can't wait to see your offering in the cloud.

April also brings us the Impact conference in Las Vegas (Sunday, 27 Apr 2014 - Thursday, 1 May 2014). If you are attending, also sign up for the exclusive Business Partner Summit at no additional charge. This full-day event will include executive insights into IBM strategy and direction along with many sessions designed to help you maximize performance and solidify how you and IBM can work together to drive business results.

Impact will also include another Mobile App Throwdown on Tuesday, 29 Apr 2014. If you're up to the challenge, it's a chance to get up on stage to demonstrate and promote your solutions using the IBM MobileFirst portfolio or our newly announced IBM BlueMix. It's your chance to become a superstar!

Be sure to come and see me on Tuesday, 29 Apr 2014, as I host a session called "14 Social Trends to Watch" with Pam Moore, CEO of Marketing Nut, at 3:45 p.m. in Palazzo E, 5th floor. I'll be signing my book, Get Bold, afterwards.
